 .Pursuant t o the a u t h o r i t y vested i n t h e A i r Resources Poard by Section
 27156 o f t h e Vehicle Code; and

 Puvsuant t o t h e a u t h o r i t y vested i n the undersigned by Section 39023 o f
"Me )Health and Safety Code;
'IT I S ORDERED AND RESOLVED: That t h e i n s t a l l a t i o n o f "Compu-SparkN
 @ h i t i o n system manufactured by Gaylord Electronics Inc. has been found
 to n o t reduce t h e effectiveness of required motor vehicle pol 1u t i o n
&control devices and, therefore, i s exempt from the p r o h i b i t i o n s o f Section
 27156 o f t h e Vehicle Code f o r 1966-74 model-year vehicles except those
 vehicles o r i g i n a l l y equipped w i t h breaker1ess e l e c t r o n i c i g n i t i o n systems
 and those 1966-70 model-year vehicles equipped w i t h the Carter and Dana
 NOx devices w i t h e l e c t r o n i c speed sensors (Reference Executive Order 6-1 9-2).
 The device c o n s i s t s o f a d-c t o d-c converter, capacitor, and e l e c t r o n i c
z3witch ( s i l i c o n c o n t r o l l e d r e c t i f i e r ) .
 This Executive Order i s v a l i d provided t h a t i n s t a l l a t i o n i n s t r u c t i o n s
 f o r t h i s device w i l l n o t recomnend tuning t h e vehicle t o s p e c i f i c a t i o n s
 d i f f e r e n t than those l i s t e d by t h e v e h i c l e manufacturer.
 Changes made t o t h e design o r operating conditions o f the device as
 w i g i n a l l y submitted t o t h e A i r Resources Board f o r evaluation t h a t
 adversely affect t h e performance of t h e v e h i c l e ' s p o l l u t i o n c o n t r o l
 devices s h a l l i n v a l i d a t e t h i s Executive Order.

 THIS EXECUTIVE ORDER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CERTIFICATION, ACCREDITATION,
 APPROVAL, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF ENDORSEMEtiT BY THE A I R RESOURCES BOARD
 OF ANY CLAIMS OF THE APPLICANT CONCERNING ANTI-POLLUTION BENEFITS OR ANY
 RLEGED BENEFITS OF THE "COMPU-SPARK" DEVICE.

o   _   EXECUTIVE ORDER D—10                                   "COMPU—SPARK"



        Section 39130 and 39184 of the Health and Safety Code provide as follows:

             "39130.   No person shall install, sell, offer for sale, or advertise,
             or, except in an application to the board for certification of a
             device, represent, any device as a motor vehicle pollution control
             device unless that device has been certified by the board. No
             person shall sell, offer for sale, advertise, or represent any motor
             vehicle pollution control device as a certified device which, in
             fact, is not a certified device. Any violation of this section is
             a misdemeanor."

             "39184. No person shall install, sell, offer for sale, or advertise,
             or, except in an application to the board for accreditation of a
             device, represent, any device as a motor vehicle pollution control
             device for use on any used motor vehicle unless that device has been
             accredited by the board. No person shall sell, offer for sale, adver—
             tise, or represent any motor vehicle pollution control device as an
             accredited device. Any violation of this section is a misdemeanor."

        Any apparent violation of the policy or laws will be submitted to the
        Attorney General of California for such action as he deems advisable.
