                                 EXECUTIVE ORDER D—425—53

Relating to Exemptions Under Section 27156
                                   of the California Vehicle Code

                                   Toyota Racing Development
                                 TRD Performance Air Intake Kit

Pursuant to the authority vested in the Air Resources Board by Section 27156 of the
Vehicle Code; and

Pursuant to the authority vested in the undersigned by Section 39515 and Section 39516 of
the Health and Safety Code and Executive Order G—14—012;

IT IS ORDERED AND RESOLVED: That the installation of the TRD Performance Air Intake
Kit, manufactured and marketed by Toyota Racing Development, 19001 South Western
Avenue, Torrance, California 90501, has been found not to reduce the effectiveness of the
applicable vehicle pollution control systems and, therefore, is exempt from the prohibitions
of Section 27156 of the Vehicle Code for the following vehicle applications:

Vehicle Application Part Number Engine Displacement
  2016 Tacoma PTRO3—35160 3.5L
  2016 Scion iM PTRO3—12160 1.8L

TRD Performance Air Intake includes a modified air filter housing lid with a Toyota
hydrocarbon trap that is permanently heat staked to the lid of the housing, Hi—Flow air filter
element, an add—on ram air at stock inlet duct, and air intake tubing from the new air filter
housing lid to the stock throttle body. No other modifications are required for installation
other than the replacement of the stock air filter housing lid, and intake tubing with Toyota
Racing Development‘s unit. The replacement Hi—Flow air filter element is designed to
replace the stock OE air filter element. The stock manifold air pressure sensor is retained in
its stock location and orientation. Installation of the TRD Performance Air Intake Kit
requires the removal of the stock air filter housing and all intake air tubing. If the
stock air filter housing contains the vehicle‘s tune—up & emissions control decal, a
replacement decal must be placed in a similar location.

This Executive Order is valid provided that the installation instructions for the TRD
Performance Air Intake Kit will not recommend tuning the vehicle to specifications different
from those submitted by the device manufacturer.

Changes made to the design or operating conditions of the TRD Performance Air Intake Kit,
as exempt by the Air Resources Board, which adversely affect the performance of the
vehicle‘s pollution control system shall invalidate this Executive Order.

This Executive Order shall not apply to any TRD Performance Air Intake Kit advertised,
offered for sale, sold with, or installed on a new motor vehicle prior to or concurrent with
transfer to an ultimate purchaser.

                                              M

This Executive Order does not constitute any opinion as to the effect the use of the TRD
Performance Air Intake Kit may have on any warranty either expressed or implied by the
vehicle manufacturer.

This exemption is issued based on submitted emissions test data, from the Automotive
Testing and Development Services, Ontario, California, on a 2016 model year, 1.8L, Scion
iM, certified to the LEV 3 ULEV 70 emission standards and tested using the Cold—Start
CVS—75 Federal Test Procedure (FTP) test cycle.

and the exemption provided herein to assure that the exempted add—on or modified part
continues to meet the standards and procedures of Title 13, California Code of
Regulations, Section 2222, et seq.

THIS EXECUTIVE ORDER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CERTIFICATION,
ACCREDITATION, APPROVAL, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF ENDORSEMENT BY THE

PERFORMANCE AIR INTAKE KIT.

proposed revocation. If a hearing is requested, it shall be held within ten days of receipt of
the request and the order may not be revoked until a determination is made after the
hearing that grounds for revocation exist.

Executed at El Monte, California, this \5° day of April 2016.
