                   PLEASEREAD THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND
                       THOROUGHLY BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR MICRO—PLUS _ >
  Catalog Number: 6500
  Model: 1982—‘86 G.M. 305 c.i.d. V8, LG—4 (Low output 4v)
  Special Features: The Micro—Plus provides four ignition timing settings, based upon fuel quality and
       gross vehicle weight. One retains the stock curve. The low setting is for regular fuel, the
       medium setting for premium, and the high setting for vehicle operation at‘altitude.
      Some experimentation may be required to find the best setting to optimize vehicle driveability,
    . keeping in mind that the Micro—Plus is operational only at or near wide—open thraottle.
  Vehicle Identification: All vehicles must have the letter (H) as the 8th digit in the VIN (Vehicle
       Identification Number) code to work properly with Micro—Plus. Vehicle Identification is on lower
       edge of windshield on driver‘s side. VIN code also appears on vehicle registration papers.
  Note: Priorto installation, we recommend the following. Vehicle must be in OEM factory state of
       tune. It is important to use factory recommended settings for your particular vehicle for
       maximum results with Micro—Plus. .
— Installation:
       1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.
       2. Remove passenger side under dash access panel. Locate and remove ECM (Electronic
          Control Module). On Firebird and Camaro models, ECM location is under dash on passenger
          side. On all other models, ECM location is behind passenger side kick panel.
       3. Disconnect both wire loom connectors from ECM.
       4. On the factory (18—pin lettered connector) loom, select the 12—volt power wire (pink with
          black stripe "C" terminal wire). With wire splice connector supplied in kit, connect Micro—
         ‘Plus red power lead wire to pink—with—black—stripe wire. Make sure connection is complete.
       5. On the same (18—pin) loom, select grounding wire (black "A" terminal wire). With wire splice
           connector supplied in kit, connect Micro—Plus black grounding wire to loom black wire.
          Make sure connection is complete.
       6. Connect Micro—Plus 22—pin (numbered) male connector to factory harness 22—pin
           (numbered) female connector. Check connector keyways for proper alignment and make
           sure connection is complete.
        7. Connect factory harness 18—pin (lettered) connector to ECM.
        8. Connect Micro—Plus 22—pin (numbered) female connector to ECM.
       9. At this point, check all connections for proper installation.
      10. Refer to Special Features section for initial setting and subsequent optimization of spark
          timing. Low position is for regular grade gasoline, medium setting for premium fuel, and high
          for vehicle operation at altitude. Stock spark timing provisions are made should the engine
          require this condition of operation. This is position "O" for 1982—‘84 vehicles, and "4" for
            model years 1985—‘86.
           Use caution to avoid audible pinging or knock. Severe engine damage can result from
           excessive spark timing. Adjustment is made by rotation of the selector knob until desired
           amount of timing is achieved.
                                                         9.

                                                                           APPENDIX A (CONTINUED)

       1982/‘84 Vehicles                                   1985/‘86 Vehicles
   0   = Stock                                         4   = Stock
   1 = Low (regular fuel) 5 = Low (regular fuel)
   2   =  Medium (premium fuel)                        6   = Medium ( premium fuel)
   3   = High (altitude)                               7   = High (altitude) .:

   11. After selection has been made, replace ECM to original location. Place Micro—Plus on top of
       underdash access panel and replace panel.
   12. Reconnect negative battery cable and start vehicle. Make sure "Check Engine Light"goes
       off. Drive vehicle and check for maximum power. Caution: Make sure vehicle does not have
       audible ping or detonation.
Trouble Shooting: If "Check Engine Light" stays on after start—up, recheck all connections in
    installation section. If problem still exists, remove Micro—Plus from system and check once
    again and correct problem.
