1996-2006 model-year off-road diesel engines of 20.0 liters or less displacementThis exemption is only valid provided the engines meet the following operating condition: the engine exhaust temperature is between 280 and 320 degrees Celsius for at least 25 percent of the typical duty cycle. The engines can be operated on California diesel (15 ppm sulfur), PuriNOx water emulsion fuel based on California diesel, or biodiesel blends containing no more than 20 percent biodiesel by volume.
