Approved Auxiliary Fuel Tanks
The California Air Resource Board requires manufacturers of auxiliary fuel tanks to obtain approval of
their tanks before they can be sold or installed in California vehicles. Fuel tank manufacturers are required
to update their approval if they wish to include newer model-year vehicles.
The Air Resource Board does not verify compliance of an auxiliary fuel tank with applicable federal and state safety regulations.
Compliance with safety laws and regulations remains the responsibility of the fuel tank manufacturer.
