                                   Relating to Exemptions Under Section 27156
                                             of the California Vehicle Code

                                             Pertronix, Inc.
                    Flame—Thrower, Ignitor, Ignitor II, and Ignitor III Ignition Modules

Pursuant to the authority vestedin the Air Resources Board by Section 27156 of the Vehicle
Code; and

Pursuant to the authority vested in the underSIgned by Section 39515 and Section 39516 of the
Health and Safety Code and Executive Order G—02—003;

IT IS ORDERED AND RESOLVED: That the installation of the Flame—Thrower, Ignitor, Ignitor II,
and Ignitor III Ignition Modules , manufactured and marketed by Pertronix, Inc., 440 E. Arrow
Highway, San Dimas, California 91773, has been found not to reduce the effectiveness of the
applicable vehicle pollution control systems and, therefore, is exempt from the prohibitions of
Section 27156 of the Vehicle Code for the following vehicle applications:

FIame-Thrower Ignition Module: 1974 to 1988 model year American Motors engines, 1980 to
                               1994 model year General Motors engines, and 1983 to 1993
                               model year Ford engines.

Ignitor, Ignitor II, Ignitor III          1995 and older model year vehicles originally equipped with
                                          a breaker points type ignition system.

This Executive Order is valid provided that the lnstallation instructions for the
ignition modules will not recommend tuning or altering base timing specifications different from
those of the vehicle manufacturer.

This exemption is issued based on information supplied by the device manufacturer which
demonstrates that the Flame—Thrower, Ignitor, Ignitor II, and Ignitor III iIgnition Modules meet the
compliance criteria for ignition system components as specified under "Procedures for
Exemption of Add—On and Modified Parts" and therefore, will not increase emissions.

This Executive Order is valid prowded that the installation instructionsfor the FIame-Thrower
Ignitor, Ignitor II, and Ignitor III Ignition Modules will not recommend tuning the vehicle to
specifications different from those submitted by the device manufacturer.

Changes made to thé design or operating conditions of the Flame—Thrower, Ignitor, Ignitor II,
and Ignitor I!I Ignition Modules, as exempt by the Air Resources Board, which adversely affect
the performance of the vehicle‘s pollution control system shall invalidate this Executive Order.
